MS2 ELA Team Vision
All MS2TC students will read and write a lot for continued academic growth.
There is a strong correlation between reading and writing and academic success. It builds vocabulary, an understanding of sentence structure, and an increase in stamina for reading harder texts. This can be any reading and writing...really, ANY, as long as it’s a habit. It is also clear that the more you read the better you write. So this summer, don’t stop READING and WRITING!
Use your reader’s and writer’s notebooks for this work.

Summer 2020 ELA Learning Goals
For each of the goals below, you get to decide your own plan of action! During the last week of the school year, write your plan for the summer for each goal! What you write will depend on where you are now, and what you decide to focus on to keep learning and growing!
STEP ONE: Recreate this table in your Reader’s Notebook
Summer Learning Goal |
Where am I at with this right now (June 2020)? |
What I will focus on to learn and grow: |
Where do I want to end up? |
Student reads a diverse range of books and other texts (novels, short stories, newspapers, magazines etc). |
|||
Student maintains a reader’s notebook that tracks books read and thinking about the above texts. |
|||
Student keeps a vibrant writer’s notebook as an important thinking and reflecting space for writing informally and creatively. |
STEP TWO: Fill in this form to share with Ms. Jennings, Mrs. Toy and Mr. Davis
Make sure to write a copy in your Reader's Notebook, first. Filling this in will not save a copy for you, and you will need it in September.
